Don’t get in the way of this Polar Bear when he’s hangry…

Hey, we all get hangry!! Ugh, I hate getting hangry. That desperate feeling of wanting food right now, mixed with a grumpy and irritable mood. But imagine if you needed to eat 12,000 or more calories a day? That’s how many calories wild bears need to survive.
Polar Bears don’t go for the buffet either. Rather than tasting every salad, appetizer and dessert, they rely almost entirely on one type of food — seals. In order to catch seals they wait by their breathing holes in the sea ice and then grab them! But how can they catch seals without ice? The Polar Bear’s dinner table is melting away as sea temperatures rise.
The polar bear has brought five nations together — Their range includes the territory of: Denmark (Greenland), Norway (Svalbard), Russia, the United States (Alaska) and Canada. These five nations are the signatories of the International Agreement on the Conservation of Polar Bears, which mandates cooperation on research and conservation efforts throughout the polar bear’s range.
